AFA PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The atlanta filmmakers alliance photography awards invites photographers from around the world to participate in the AFA’s 2020 open photography competition.

The AFA Open Photography Competition celebrates existing independent photography around the world.

We are looking for stunning, well-designed images of exceptional quality. Successful images that can communicate through a visual story using excellent artistic and creative skills. AFA’s open photography competition aims to discover images that address the subject of human trafficking in the world around us and also provides an opportunity for photographers who are struggling to make their work visible.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

ARTICLE 1- ORGANIZATION AND DATES OF THE COMPETITION

As part of the AFA Online film festival the Atlanta filmmakers alliance, organizes the AFA Online photography competition, free of charge.

Participation will be open from October 1 to November 18, 2020.

ARTICLE 2- THEME

Human trafficking.

ARTICLE 3 – CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION 

This contest is free and open to all Artists and Creators, amateurs and professionals without restriction of age, gender, nationality or any other qualification.

Each artist can participate by submitting one photo or two Max. The works of art may have already been exhibited elsewhere.

No images will be used by the organizers outside the competition and exhibitions following the award ceremony.

ARTICLE 4: TECHNIQUES ALLOWED IN THE CONTEST AND MAXIMUM DIMENSIONS

The size of the photo will be approximately 2000×3000 pixels.

The name of the photo file must be in the form “name-firstname.jpg/png “.

The subject of the enamel will be in the form: “Afa-competition- photo-name-first name”.

ARTICLE 5: ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

The results will be informed by email and unveiled on the AFAOFF website as well during the final online ceremony of the AFA Online film festival.

ARTICLE 6: IMAGE RIGHTS

Participants in the contest must be the owner of the rights related to the image and have the authorization of the persons identifiable in the photo.

If the contest organizers wish to use a photograph of a participant, an agreement will be drawn up specifying the intended uses, the media and the duration.

ARTICLE 7: OBLIGATIONS

Participation in this contest implies acceptance of these rules by the competitors. Failure to comply with them will result in the cancellation of the application.

Any dispute relating to the interpretation and application of these rules will be studied by the organizers, sovereign in their decision, in the spirit that prevailed at the conception of the contest.

Head of Competition

Herbert Taylor is a lifestyle and documentary photographer and video content producer from Detroit. He has grown an appreciation for visual storytelling due to my experience working at a global advertising agency. He is dedicated to serving clients who want to optimize how their story is told. For him it’s all about cultivating relationships. Every person and business has a story. Mentoring young creatives is also very important to Herbert.

Aside from advertising work, he provides his services, skills, and insight toward multiple social justice initiatives in Detroit, including the Detroit Equity Action Lab, Soar Detroit, Soulardarity, and the Michigan State Appellate Defender’s Office.
